last night in the states until june

i have slightly more than 24 hours left until my plane departs from logan, and i would be lying if i said i weren’t worried about the fact that i have no apartment in arcos de la frontera, the southern spanish town in which i am about to start teaching, and nowhere to stay until a find that apartment. i’m sure it will get resolved eventually, but at what cost? it seems like all the lodging in town is booked for the town’s festival, and there are no rooms for less than about 1/3 of my monthly stipend of €630. at least i know i have somwhere to stay in madrid for a night, a popular hostel adjacent to casa patas, a flamenco conservatory where took guitar lessons during my junior year abroad in the city, and in my favorite neighborhood of madrid. i will spend the following night on a bus down to andalucía, and from there, i have two days to find a piso before i head to orientation in granada for two days, then return to arcos to begin teaching the following day.  for now, back to packing…
