Armónica Flamenca Video

In June I posted about my friend and now former co-worker Luis Agar’s flamenco harmonica project. Don’t be fooled, though — this is not your typical westernized flamenco fusion cop-out. While subversive in its use of an instrument virtually never heard in the genre, Luis’s tones and melodies are astonishingly faithful to flamenco’s purist song structures, taking on the “voice” of a traditional cantaor or cantaora.  He just put up his first video on Youtube, from a performance in Arcos de la Frontera (he’ll be playing in Arcos again on November 20th, if you happen to be around — I plan on going). The sound quality is less than perfect, but you’ll get the idea.
